My Thoughts On Bloglovin

When I first started blogging four years ago, Google Friend Connect was the place to gain followers. However when it was retired in 2012 I wasn't really sure what the next thing would be to take it's place. I have to admit I'm a bit of a bad blog reader - it's hard enough finding time to blog and vlog let alone read others' posts. But I know it's all part of the community so I try and do my best when I can.
I generally use my list on Blogger when I get a minute to read and I also have some go-to blogs that I try to keep up to as much as I can. However I really want to find new blogs to read and keep up to date with the latest people to join the wonderful blogger world, so I turned to Bloglovin.
At the moment I follow just over one hundred one there, which is nowhere near the amount of blogs available, or even how many I follow on Twitter. So over the last few days I have put a shout out to people to send me their links and gradually my list is growing.
So what do I make of the new network?

It's so-so. To me, it's not much different than going onto my Blogger homepage and seeing the recent posts from those I follow there. But Bloglovin is more accessible to a lot of people and so there is much more choice on there. It is frustrating that if I click a topic, inevitably it is American blogs that appear, so I have to search for specific blog titles to find the ones I want. It would be nice to be presented with relevant search results.
I do like that you can sort those blogs you follow into lists. This means you can narrow down which you want to view at any one time - style blogs, parenting blogs, those with younger children, those who discuss pregnancy etc.
I also like that there is a preview image of each post is displayed, which gives you a taste of what the post is about. I do think a visual element is always more appealing.
So what do you make of the latest blog reader? I know a lot of my followers us it and according to my recent reader survey it is where most of my views comes from, so it's definitely something I need to invest some time into. With that in mind, leave me your links below! If you want to follow me, you can click here.
