What Is Your Parenting Super Power?

My children adore superheroes, especially Jack, who is constantly fighting baddies, donning capes and flying past us making a whoosh sound. If I asked him I'm sure he would choose to be super strong like his favourite, Hulk and Holly says she would love to see through walls.

Whilst most of us parents feel like most of the time we are just scraping ti through each day alive and would hardly say we are heroes, in fact most of the time the mum guilt is crippling - did I play with them enough today, did they spend too much time in front of the TV, did they eat enough healthy food? The list goes on.

But I think if we all stood back and reflected, we are pretty amazing. We have brought humans into the world and are raising them to be special little people that one day will shape our futures, in so many different ways. So if I were to take a step back and analyse my parenting I would say my superhero power is the ability to keep on going when things feel too much.

It's no secret on my blog that I have chronic fatigue - an invisible illness that leaves me with debilitating tiredness and often has me in bed for the majority of the day. Being a parent alongside this can be really tough and I often feel like I'm not there enough for my children.

But despite all this I do my best to be with my children as much as I can. When I'm having good days we go out and experience as much as we can and when I'm not, we have quiet times in the house, watching a film or maybe doing some crafting. I may not always be around as much as they would like and the times when they cry for me can break my heart, but I hope when they look back they can understand that I did as much as I could.

I am so grateful for my children as without them I wouldn't have a purpose - they give me a reason to fight. They give me my superpowers. All you have to do is share a video or image of your parenting super powers at familysuperpowers for a chance to win one of three UK theme park resort breaks. Don't forget to tweet them @npowerHQ using the hashtag #familysuperpowers

Npower have a lovely campaign at the moment, npower Parenting Super Powers, and they are asking parents to share their super powers.
